Building on the Administration’s initial push on April 13 to re-establish a 1930s-era cultural repatriation campaign (see: Cultural Repatriation Campaign 2.0) to remove migrants from America, on May 9, the President went one step further, signing a proclamation establishing ‘Project Homecoming’ to encourage illegal aliens to depart the United States voluntarily.
While ‘Project Homecoming’ may seem like a cheerful high school event, the reality is much more sinister in nature.
In the White House Fact Sheet, the subheads are militarist in nature, promising to ‘end the invasion’ and to ‘shrink the alien population in the United States.’
Further mind-boggling is that the new proclamation will offer ‘Federal support and financial assistance’ to those migrants who take them up on the offer.
Essentially, the Administration is offering bribes.
The document states that the proclamation creates a “streamlined process for departure using the CBP Home app, provides government-funded flights at no cost to illegal aliens, facilitates travel for those lacking valid travel documents, and offers a concierge service at airports to assist with booking travel and claiming an exit bonus.”
While there is no mention in the Fact Sheet of what exactly the ‘exit bonus’ will be, media reports have noted that the bonus will be $1,000.
However, one cannot dismiss the irony of it all.
In the very same ‘Fact Sheet’, the Administration laments the costs of undocumented migrants to the American taxpayer.
Yet, the Administration is going to pay for flights, concierge services, and exit bonuses – all with those same taxpayer dollars?
How does that make any sense?
This is also the same Administration that has established a ‘Golden Visa’ allowing those with excessive means to buy their way into the USA.
Perhaps, Trump just doesn’t want racialized working-class migrants who are trying to create a better life for their families.
An additional concern is the increase in targeting migrant communities.
The proclamation also establishes a “nationwide communications campaign to inform illegal aliens of the Project Homecoming program and of the consequences of remaining, including removal, prosecution, fines, wage garnishment, and property confiscation.”
Furthermore, the program directs a full-scale, aggressive deportation surge, including an additional 20,000 officers, for illegal aliens who do not depart voluntarily.
20,000 more officers?
How much will that cost?
Of course, the Administration doesn’t say.
Perhaps DOGE should focus on streamlining and reducing this part of the bureaucracy.
It all just adds up to more taxpayer dollars being spent on cultural repatriation.
Ultimately, what is most concerning is that it leaves some of the most vulnerable in America open to Government-sponsored bribery to return to the unsafe conditions from which they initially fled.
